10 Nights · 6 Rounds
Cape Town · Winelands · George · Mossel Bay · Knysna
First-time South Africa · Couples · Golf-focused travellers
From Cape Town and the Winelands to some of the most spectacular golf on the Garden Route. Ten nights, six rounds and a journey that moves from mountains and vineyards to forests, cliffs and the Indian Ocean. This is the South African journey for travellers who want exceptional golf without reducing the country to a collection of tee times.
The route
Cape Town · Cape Winelands · Garden Route
More golf than our Cape Town & Winelands journey, but still enough time to experience the places between the rounds.
Two main bases keep unnecessary hotel changes to a minimum.
This journey starts with Cape Town, its coastline and the Winelands before heading east towards the Garden Route.
Then the golf changes completely. Mountain parkland at Fancourt. Clifftop golf above the Indian Ocean. Forests, lagoons and the landscapes around Knysna.
Six rounds show very different sides of South African golf, while the days between them make sure you actually experience the country you travelled to play.

More golf than our Cape Town & Winelands journey, with the road east treated as part of the experience — not simply a transfer between tee times.
Arrive in Cape Town and allow the first day to be exactly that — an arrival day. Settle into the city, take in the mountain and ocean surroundings and start the journey over a relaxed dinner rather than rushing immediately into a full programme.

Start among the vineyards of Constantia.
Begin the golf in the Constantia Valley, where vineyards, mountains and Cape Town come together naturally. It is an easy first round geographically, but already feels distinctly South African.
Steenberg Golf Club
Why HF likes it“Great golf without sacrificing the destination. The course fits naturally into a day exploring Constantia.”

One of those days where golf can wait.
Follow the coastline south from Cape Town through one of the great scenic driving routes of the Cape. Mountains, ocean, Cape Point and the African penguins at Boulders Beach make this one of the defining first-time South Africa days.

This round is flexible.
Leave the city for a full day in the Cape Winelands. The exact course can be selected around the traveller and the final route — De Zalze for a Stellenbosch experience, or Pearl Valley for a dramatic Paarl-Franschhoek setting.
De Zalze or Pearl Valley
“Course selection is tailored before the journey is confirmed.”

Today the journey changes. Leave Cape Town behind and make your way towards South Africa’s Garden Route — where mountains, forests and the Indian Ocean begin to define the landscape. The final journey may use a private road transfer, self-drive or domestic travel where appropriate, with possible stops kept flexible.
The journey is part of the trip“Rather than treating every transfer as dead time, HF considers where it is worth stopping, eating and slowing down along the way.”
Classic Garden Route golf beneath the Outeniqua Mountains.
Your first Garden Route round introduces a very different landscape from Cape Town — mature parkland, mountain scenery and the distinctive Fancourt setting.
Fancourt Montagu
Why HF likes it“A strong introduction to Fancourt before the journey moves into more dramatic coastal golf.”

One of the journey’s headline rounds.
A very different experience from Montagu. The Links introduces a rugged, windswept style of golf inspired by the traditional links landscapes of the British Isles — but surrounded by the Garden Route. If The Links cannot be secured, the journey allows for an appropriate alternative.
The Links at Fancourt
Why HF likes it“Playing Montagu and The Links close together shows just how different two golf experiences within the same destination can feel.”

Because four straight golf days misses the point.
Take a day away from the course and experience the Garden Route properly. Exactly what you do can depend on where you are based and what you enjoy.
“Do everything. Do one thing. Or do very little.”
Golf on the edge of the Indian Ocean.
Few rounds communicate the drama of the Garden Route quite like this. Fairways follow the cliffs above the Indian Ocean, with ocean views becoming part of the golf rather than simply a backdrop.
Pinnacle Point
Why HF likes it“This is one of those rounds where you remember where you were long after you forget what you shot.”

Knysna from the fairways.
Finish the golf around Knysna with a final round chosen around the traveller, availability and the way the journey has been routed. Simola offers elevated golf above Knysna with forest, estuary and mountain views. Pezula offers a coastal Knysna option with another distinctly Garden Route setting.

“The final evening should feel like you have travelled through South Africa — not simply played six golf courses.”
Enjoy a final Garden Route morning before your onward journey. Domestic travel and airport transfers can be arranged around the final itinerary.
The strength of this journey is not simply the number of rounds. It is how different the golf feels as the landscape changes.

Vineyards and mountains make it a natural opening round.

Choose the Winelands experience that best fits the final journey.
Selected around final routing and availability.

Classic parkland golf beneath the Outeniqua Mountains.

A completely different Fancourt experience and one of the journey’s headline rounds.
Subject to access and availability.

Clifftop golf above the Indian Ocean and one of the journey’s biggest visual moments.
Finish among the forests, hills and waterways around Knysna.
Final course selected around the confirmed route.
The final golf collection can move around availability, access, season, maintenance, weather, traveller preference and how you like to play.
The Garden Route deserves more than a view through the window on the way to the next tee time. Leave room for the lagoon, the coast, the forests, a long lunch or simply an afternoon with nowhere you need to be.

A partner does not need to play six rounds to enjoy this trip. Golf days can be paired with experiences around the destination so travellers can spend part of the day separately and meet again afterwards.

City, coast and easy access to Constantia, the Cape Peninsula and the Winelands.
A base positioned around the final golf routing, with access to Fancourt, Mossel Bay and Knysna.
Accommodation is selected around travel style, room configuration, golf routing and budget. The final Garden Route stay may involve more than one base where it materially improves the route, but the preferred philosophy is fewer unnecessary hotel changes.
Ten nights and six rounds is the starting point.
The final journey should reflect the people travelling.
Cape Town and the Garden Route can easily become a list of famous golf courses.\n\nHF approaches it differently.\n\nWe consider when to play, when to drive, when to stop, when not to play and where the experience between the rounds deserves more time.
Final pricing depends on travel dates, accommodation level, room configuration, course availability, transport and the experiences selected.
Ten nights. Six rounds. One journey through very different sides of South Africa.
Golf is only the beginning.
